Hi and bienvenue! I’m Claudia and I just left NYC after 20 years for some South Florida time. New York was definitely getting to me and I didn’t want to break up with my great love and not still be friends.
So now instead of the hectic and relentless pull of the city, life is a lot more peaceful. I work hard and reward myself with a trip to the ocean in between 4 hour stints and my downtime is priceless. Here I live for the moments at the sea, sunsets and collecting shells. i can actually have conversations with friends and family, do yoga and blog! I love to roam the world and have a passion for Paris in particular. i hope to keep my joie de vivre.
After a couple years in the corporate world in New York, I decided to go it on my own and opened a small store in the East Village.
The store was tons of fun and inspired judith regan to publish my decorating book, The Paris Apartment, Romantic Decor on a Fleamarket Budget. It’s my baby and I’ve had a great time creating a company all about things I love. And as tough as it is working for myself, it beats getting chased around the desk by a freaky boss.
My business is evolving every day and I’m working hard to build the brand, produce heirlooms and provide personal, top quality service and adore it most of the time. But as with any entrepreneur, work can become a way of life and an obsession. And I’m an Aries so there are lots of irons in the fire!
But I can’t stop myself, so for inspiration watch 20′s and 30′s movies, read French & Deco design books, study the history of women as flappers, early decorators and hostesses. I collect tiny things; fabrics, vintage trinkets, love letters, & satin ribbons, and am fascinated by 1700′s France in the ‘Age of Enlightenment’, when all things were works of art and philosophies were flowing. A fairy tale world, now just fairy dust, but the objets left behind are magnifique! Even a tiny scrap of cloth can be exquisitely intricate and I love to get lost in things like that!
On the other hand, I adore the fairy tale we’re living right now, building a civilization as incomprehensible as the pyramids or Versailles. Having anything we could want, and knowing mysteries we can’t conceive will be here to amaze us next week. I can’t wait to see what’s next. Thank God we’re all going green and I try to create less waste and recycle wherever I can. I visualize whirled peace and hope that we’ll get a grip on harnessing solar and wind energy any day now. I think we have the power to shape and change the world to our image.
Above all, I’m glad you’re here. So much of my inspiration comes from other bloggers and their passions. Thank you for your beautiful blogs and generous comments. Please say hi when you can and share your blog or one that you adore!
p.s. If you got this far: feel free to use any of my images, just credit and link to it, s’il vous plait et merci beaucoup!
p.s.s. if you ever wanted to know why i write my blog in all small letters, i’ll tell you now: it’s cause all day long i have to be miss meticulous with letters and emails and articles and and and and! this is my little corner where i can just write freely without worrying or having to be perfect. et c’est tout!
