We take photographs to understand what our lives mean to us — Ralph Hattersley
allo dear friends how are you this october sunday night? i’m home relaxing after what’s been a hectic week. between hurricane irma doing a number on my apartment and getting back to work it’s been non stop. and now that i’m back from my trip and have thousands of photos to edit. it got me thinking about how technology has a tendency to improve our lives but at the same time it’s sort of inhibiting. i mean, like it or not, there’s a lot of editing to do and with pics on my phone, on laptop, external hard drive, flash drives and camera cards and it begs the question, what have i been saving these for and what will become of them, these moments, treasured memories and ethereal friends? i’m going to leave that hanging for tonight cause it’s getting late and i want some down time, but have one more query…how are you dealing with your media and are you on overload?

some things going on around here
well, hello. (above image via pinterest).
i’m stopping in to check in with, well, myself i guess! and you if you’re here, i’m glad. welcome to ‘my happy place‘.
“La Soirée” (detail) by Vittorio Reggianini (1858-1938)
i keep forgetting about it. this is where i stop to take a break and do whatever i want, which is really nice. breaks up the day actually.
and i’m starting to notice the happy stuff instead of the dread. who was holding that gun to my head, anyway? oh right, me.
so for the past couple days i’ve laid low after going full force all last week. maybe pacing myself is a good concept to adapt into reality.
as you may know i have lots of broad strokes on many different projects from trips, to the app, book ideas, the site, the line! but all are so broad that it’s overwhelming and that is where i burn out quick.(aka i’ve discussed ad nauseum) but today has been productive so i’m gonna take note and kick back. and so to wit…what are some things that have been happening over here?
well, the latest collaborations have been with the giants of amazon but also with the more delicate etsy. (who’s also a giant but a gentler one).
and so what about all this? well i’m using this blog to log and share this info with the hope it will be useful to someone else too. since i’m figuring it out myself, i’m probably reinventing the wheel…so if you have any tips for me i’d appreciate it! but basically, you’re an affiliate. you choose your favorite etsy items to add to your site, and get a percentage of the sale. if you love browsing etsy, it’s a dream.. and it’s that easy. ok it’s not that easy but it’s doable once you get past the etsy red tape. here’s my first live one: theparisapartment.com/handles
et voilà, that’s it! anyway i’m getting really hungry and the sun is gonna set soon. hope your day is winding down. have a great night!
well read
wow, two days in a row, that’s got to be a record. hey guys, thanks for coming by yesterday. it was so nice to read your comments and hear from you. every day brings something new, doesn’t it?
i’m stopping by to jot down some notes and keep what’s happening fresh and in the forefront.
today i’m be focusing on a part of my site that anyone can implement on their site and each will be completely unique.
it’s the joy of using ‘amazon affiliates’, specifically today, the ‘astore‘.
have you heard of it?
you can choose products from amazon to curate your favorite products and recommendations.
when someone goes to amazon from your site you get a referral which is really nice. (especially for someone like me who is making wishlists on there anyway!)
i got kind of caught up in it last night, focusing mainly on books and that was just the tip of the iceberg since it’s the ultimate rabbit hole.
here’s the one i’m putting together: astore.amazon.com/theparisapart-20. (it just went live)
as i was going through all the fascinating and swoon worthy books i realized they’re not in the right categories so i’ll go back now and organize them.
anyway it’s one way that i’m focusing on using affiliates on the site. as we grow and design this new site i want to share with you some of the ways i’ll be monetizing and modernizing it.
my other goal and passion is to collaborate with like minded people, someone, like, say… kathie from australia who was here yesterday and said she’d like to work together!
her gorgeous website and products are here: frenchcargo.com.au
i want one of everything she has, how about you? kathie, let’s talk! Ok, that’s it for me today, off to organize those books. have a great night!
oh PS just figured since this post was about books, why not do a giveaway with my own book?
we’ll draw two random commenters in the next post. ok, a tout alors!
