back to basics
allo monday…evening that is. it’s a day coming to a close and i decided to stop the presses and get here for a minute. between having my guy in town, starting a new project, working on TPA dailys and hosting neo’s birthday, every moment’s been filled to the brim. not that i minded…but suddenly it all stopped. now the place is quiet and well, i’m alone for the first time in a long while. it was a day of hard knocks, mostly business stuff which makes me realize i need to keep working on this paradigm shift. you know the saying about doing what you love and then it’s not work? that’s how i’ve always felt but somewhere along the way i thought i had to be something else with regard to my business. but i can’t follow a trend, not for one more minute and finally have the kick in the culottes i needed to be sure not to repeat the same mistakes anymore. sometimes you don’t have to make the change yourself, being in the zone does it for you. like yesterday, when i fed into my lust for beautiful french furniture at the flea market in miami beach and got this little chair. today it’s reminding me that i love to blend home and at work by living around beautiful things i enjoy. i also love buying and selling, sometimes donating, sometimes a trade. why i stopped is something to ponder, but for now this petite siège is helping me to get back to my roots and remember that it’s quality over quantity and tomorrow my mantra for the webmakeover will be edit edit edit! et alors, the sun is setting and it’s time for dinner, good nuit~

So… I’m curious: How do you reconcile “which makes me realize i need to keep working on this paradigm shift” with “you know the saying about doing what you love and then it’s not work?” Is it at all possible that you could do what you love to do, which would not be work, and the shift would happen? Maybe you don’t need to “work” on the paradigm shift? Could it be that “working on this paradigm shift” is too much like work? A wise woman said, “sometimes you don’t have to make the change yourself, being in the zone does it for you.”
Here’s to relaxing in your beautiful new chair and enjoying some perfectly awesome coffee or tea or something and just being… because you are enough. I just saw this on Pinterest: “You are allowed to be both a Masterpiece and a Work-in-Progress simultaneously.” You are, you know. Really.

(Don’t you just love the English language??!!)) Anyway, I’m always glad when my babbling is some small help to someone else. Ever since you started your “challenge,” I can’t help but think you are being too hard on yourself for some reason. I think the mistake we all make is comparing ourselves to others. One of my favorite dancers (I saw him a few times in Boston – he, literally, defies gravity), Mikhail Baryshnikov, once said, “I do not try to dance better than anyone else. I only try to dance better than myself.” To me, this is beyond brilliant.
You are talking with probably the least social media-literate person you know. My name on Pinterest is “C B” – capital C, space, capital B. I think I just started following you, The Paris Apartment… again; I thought I had a long while ago.

Love the chair! I live in Ft. Lauderdale, I did not even know they had good flea markets in Miami. Sometimes I feel like all the design down here is really modern and tropical which isn’t really my style. Thanks so much for the inspiration, it’s gorgeous!
