tales of an underachieving overachiever
happy sunday and mother’s day!
i’m hanging at home after spending time with friends and got a million things going including trying to get in some down time and blogging.
i started a bunch of projects including pulling out boxes of documents from 2007 that should be shredded. just want to pare down to the bare necessities.
it got me thinking that if this is my m.o. then i’m never going to find time to sit down and write a post. so here i am, just stopping in with a note to self that says, don’t edit yourself, enjoy your blog for what it can be for you now. a creative place to share thoughts. it doesn’t have to be an essay. why have i been feeling like the blog has to have some kind standard i can’t meet? it’s my blog!
i do want to share what the day brought and remember it for what it was. to that end, one of the things i thought i did was cancel the email subscription that went out whenever a post was published. but it seemed like the last time i posted it went straight into some of your inboxes. can you let me know if you get this via email or if you just came by? i haven’t wanted to post cause i don’t want to pop up in personal emails and just want to be able to use this to post my own thoughts more often. it is a WEB-LOG after all. where does all this lead? just a check-in to basically start to feel comfortable using this as a journal. so if you’re here please say hi. i’ll randomly post things i’m working on and coming across and will keep the laptop on throughout the day for inspiration.
first up, one of my top 5 on the To Do list. gathering info for a retreat/shopping/sourcing/shipping trip to the south of france.

well that’s it for now, bonne nuit~

Came to my email and I’m also glad it did. It’s annoying to have to continually remember to check in on a site only to find someone hasn’t posted, yet again. It’s almost as annoying to forget a site, remember later and find out there’s been great activity you missed. I guess I’m not sure why it would bother you that it popped up in my email to notify me that you posted? (please read that in a sincere, not snarky, tone). I signed up for that. I want to know and I assume that if your log is on the web, you want others to know you’ve written. That’s what blogs are for. Otherwise it’s a Word doc you keep on your desktop for yourself. And I would miss you!

I agree–I like having my favorite blogs come to me, rather than me looking over and over to see whether there is something new. I just discovered Bloglovin’, which is how I subscribe to you and some others.

Hi Cris, I never looked at it that way. I appreciate hearing your perspective. And I hear a genuine, thoughtful tone, not at all snarky and it’s sincerely appreciated.

Bonjour,
I received this via email. Thank you. I don’t always remember to check my favorite blogs by directly clicking in on them – I’m often at a different computer, which doesn’t have the same bookmarks.
Email is just the best!

Hi Claudia,
I check my favorite blogs every few days. I receive so many emails that I sometimes overlook the best ones, but I am going to sign up for your new posts.
I wanted to send a big thank you for the fashion card I won. I was so happy to receive one with a perfume label. It is wonderful and I will treasure it!
Keep posting the beautiful pics of your apartment – it does look like a little piece of heaven.
Take care, Melissa
