winding down

loving katie rogers’ watercolors tonight.  evening all, how’s your sunday going? it was a jam packed day over here and i should start winding down and enjoy a little golden globe trotting.

first my lil recap, just so i don’t forget there was some progress made. i purchased the domain, so that maybe the marketplace we’ve been talking about could be a charitable organization.

sara, jill and i hit flea market on lincoln road. i brought my camera, i pad, phone and apparatus cause i guess i wanted to be ready for anything. i’m trying to experiment with the out of focus background technique. i’m determined to work on my photography skills since it’s one of the things i’m not confident with yet even though i shot my second book entirely. go figure.

feels like if i get a good shot it was just by luck. photography is sort of the perfect combination of art and science but i have no clue how it really works. sara is going to photograph both jill and liz’s apartment in the coming weeks so that feels pretty good.

since the market got rained out i met with liz who wants to vamp up her house but one room at a time starting with her office to be a sort of  den/retreat/woman cave. we hit the Marshall’s/Home Goods in aventura to get ideas and since they have great rugs. liz has exquisite style and it always amazes me how she see things i don’t. i told her to pretend she was on a shopping spree and figured we’ll come back when she’s ready to throw down and we have time to spend with the photographer. but this was a good test run. i’d say her style is a mix between earthy and elegant…she’d kill me if she knew i was showing these ‘befores’ but hey, we all have befores…

these are a few of the things she picked out. i’m starting a little scrapbook of inspiration for her starting with the framed feathers in the first shot below:

just went to upload one of these to the Home Goods page and see what they’re all about online. here’s their twitter page and blog. they seem to have a strong community and it looks like they love to see what their customers bought and how these used the pieces. i invited them to come over and see what we’re doing.

ok that’s all for tonight. gotta know when to day when,  sweet dreams!

Oh… thank you thank you thank you for Katie Rogers! Gorgeous stuff she does!

And I just love your photos! That’s how I found you – your photos. Love your books. Thank you for sharing you. Such a gift!

My dad was a professional photographer. He told me when I first started doing photography, that if he got one photo on a roll he didn’t hate, he was happy. And, if I remember right, it took about four rolls to get one good shot. Needless to say, he never had it on auto. ;)

The visual person I am enjoyed this post very much!
