breakfast at audrey’s
allo all, how is everything in your world? i’ve been working/playing/researching for the new book and they say that what you do during your downtime is what you should be doing for your career so there’s no guilt in indulging in this particular rabbit hole. today’s focus is on the inimitable audrey hepburn.
we all know and love her for the character and even her run-down nyc apartment in breakfast at tiffany’s but i wanted to see if i could find her home in real life and see how she lived. turns out it was almost as simply…
she loved animals
but there was no sign of a 1/2 bath loveseat!
audrey at home was modest and at ease
surrounded by pets and the odd guest
looks like home was a place she could relax and enjoy them
i love her candid shots, they reveal her elegance
she took the time to have breakfast on a white table cloth
of course she loved her books and records.
her furnishings were pretty but very mininal
she had a vanity as any self respecting woman did!
and all the trimmings
she was holly golightly after all…at least sometimes
but for the most part life looks very humble…bed alcove, comfy chair
chaise lounge, oriental wallpaper
wallpaper behind the bed
modest but sweet outdoor space
she seems to have really enjoyed life’s simple pleasures
glad she allowed us a glimpse into her world
and last but not least, she had pretty sheets! oh audrey, you’re still the epitome of glamour in every way…
-You can tell more about a person by what he says about others than you can by what others say about him.
-I don’t want to be alone, I want to be left alone.
-I’m an introvert… I love being by myself, love being outdoors, love taking a long walk with my dogs and looking at the trees, flowers, the sky.
-True friends are families which you can select.
-If I get married, I want to be very married.
-Anyone who does not believe in miracles is not a realist.
-I tried always to do better: saw always a little further. I tried to stretch myself.
-I believe in being strong when everything seems to be going wrong. I believe that happy girls are the prettiest girls. I believe that tomorrow is another day, and I believe in miracles.
-Elegance is the only beauty that never fades.
-The best thing to hold onto in life is each other.
have a great weekend!
