what is this world is coming to?
good morning and happy sunday! we’re deep into the heart of the holiday weekend and as much as we’re thankful for the things we have, it also happens to be the biggest shopping time of the year.
just when it seemed we had everything we could ever want or need, i came across some fascinating new gadgets that make life even more convenient and fun, aka, grown-up toys.
an older friend of mine tells me how in his youth it seemed like each day people would marvel and gasp, “what will they think of next?” and comment “well, everything’s been invented now!” turns out we’re far from it and the hits just keep on coming.
in this day and age we all want to consume less, buy goods that will last and have qualities that will truly help us become more efficient. of course, some things are just for fun and beauty!
these are just some of the hundreds of items i came across in the tech world that i’d love to have or give.
of all the things that last, tech is the one area that continues to change and evolve no matter how well we plan and buy. but some trends are here to stay like solar power and wireless capablities.
some inventions take current technology and sup it up.
i like the idea of mixing old tech and using it with new products.
or streamlining for efficiency, using less desk or counter space.
anything to get the creative juices going!
personally i can’t wait for a wireless world. till then, this is an unobtrusive extension cord, at least it’s pretty!
this turntable converts records into digital recordings.
my old-fashioned streak always looks for ways to find the old and new merging together. like the gramophone for example!
this device lets you control your entire music system from one central spot.
if you’re an apple lover, check out some of these inventions that aren’t even on the market yet (above)
of course there’s the old standbys
streaming player that sends netflix and hulu straight to your tv screen
this blog was full of interesting stuff including the printer above
the model of the building above was on the same blog. i just had to throw it in!
at my parent’s house we always talk about converting old slides and movies before they disintegrate.
how much fun it would be to show all the kids our old home movies. maybe a projector like this would get dad in the mood!
this great tool takes words right off the page and onto your hard drive. perfect for those passages you want to remember and re-read without having to try to find it or earmark pages.
maybe it’s a bit of a non sequitor but i couldn’t restit the musical stairs set-up for kids.
and mom says this blog entry wouldn’t be complete without a magic wand. this one changes the channel on tvs and dvrs!
finally, if you have a great idea or know a techy kid, check out the link above on Dupont’s website. they’re looking for bright ideas and are helping young minds develop them. it looks like a pretty cool program.
ok one more, a pretty audio cluch by rebecca minkoff.
i definitely fell in deep and could go on an on with the never ceasing array of amazing new ideas and inventions. but it’s a beautiful day and time to get out and enjoy it. maybe i’ll do something radical and leave my phone home. enjoy the rest of your weekend!
