make it last

hey guys! just checking in for a milisec and cleaning off my desktop. i’m 1/2 way through my 4 days of solitude. i need this time to really get to work and pick up the slack from slacking all summer! it’s midnight and i still have a ton of homework to do. i’ve been working on an article and going thru photos of fleas around the world and thought you’d enjoy a few.

alas i gotta go…this is the first time i’ve been able to go thru them since the trip. if you click on the one below it gets

pretty big, some of the covers are priceless.

this one’s actually from ny…guess these ladies were the toast of the garment district. looks like fun! anyway just saying hi and wishing you a happy wednesday!  oh by the by, i’ll be in paris august 30 – september 9th for the braderie of lille and the maison et objet. if you’re going to be there, let me know. bonne nuit!

Great photos. Love the first one. Have you ever been asked not to take photos at a flea? I too take lots, but at a flea market in New York last year a woman selling vintage clothes told me not to take photos of them! She said I wouldnt wander into a designers studio on 5th Avenue and photograph their clothes. I couldnt quite understand that logic as its not like she time travelled and designed them herself. Silly cow.

what a cow! haha! i’ve been in the same situation too many times i care to remember although that’s one of the first actual explanations i’ve heard. it’s just as dumb a reason as i suspected. i also heard that sometimes the dealers would see the item on ebay and then the photog would come back the next week to buy. whatever! now i sneak almost ALL my flea pics cause there’s nothing worse than the sound of a french woman yelling at you thru a peaceful market! you have to be slick but i’ll never stop and will probably have to be physically removed for the offense one day!

I will be in Paris in Sept… but not until the last week!

If you have 2 seconds, and know the info off the top of your head… where in Paris could I find lady figurines like in the pic. I LOVE them. I’ve seen new ones in shops, but not vintage ones.

If you are swamped… I totally understand!

I loved this blog post. The photos are fantastic. I went to the flea market in Tongeren in December and lost myself there for the better part of a day. I posted an article I wrote about it – Nazi Dishes and Prayers Chairs on my On Life… blog.

Have you been to Tongeren? What is the best flea market you have ever gone to and why?
