close encounters with counter culture shock

hi guys, it’s been a week since i’ve been back stateside. miami beach is in full bloom with water so clear and calm it’s like a swimming pool. it’s been hard to write without conveying the pain i feel for this water and for our species. i didn’t have a tv in paris so  i’m not sure i understand all that’s NOT  happening. and I am shocked to be watching another teri schiavo and katrina happen before our eyes and can’t help but wonder, why? Why are we allowing another country’s corporation to run our waters and determine the clean up? Americans are poised and ready to work. Why are we waiting for  BP or the government’s ‘permission’. They apparently have different agendas and the water must be protected! who is saying we can’t get started? I’m about ready to go to louisianna with anderson cooper and find out!

anyway i have plenty of places to vent and this is not one of them but i wanted you to know why i dropped out of sight. i read that visualizing something already having happened will create it. please join me in visualizing the hole sealed tight.

back at home life goes on. i’ve felt so uninspired to take photos of my apartment before since it’s just a sort of weigh station and not decorated at all.  but the camera i treated myself to was waiting when i got back so i did play around a little. it’s an olympus PEN that’s got lots of tricks like soft background,  faded, etc. this one used the pinhole technique.

looking around at the few things i do have here, the only decor is from the sea.

last year i collected hundreds of swirls.

i was falling into a funk so when liz called for some girl time, i hopped in her car for little joy riding in the rain and exploring neighborhood pockets. it’s one of our favorite things to do, especially when we find one like this and pretend we’re going to fix it up and move in with tons of animals.

i guess everyone needs a muse and liz is mine. she would die if she knew this pic was up but that’s what she gets for not reading my blog  ;p
