paris is old and cold and settled in its ways

and i complain about the rain but there’s always a warm spot to dip into like this little spot in clignancourt…

hi guys,  hope your week is going well. it was a day off for us so we really chilled and worked at home most of the day. these shots are highlights from yesterday. i fell in love with this little place at the flea in clignancourt, it kind of made me miss having a store cause it was filled with the girly stuff i love so much.

she collects all the things i die for…pink chairs, daybeds, glass sconces hats on stands with feathers. who wore these things? who lived that life?

le sigh, i’m a dreamer who loves carvings and flowers

and details

but god my camera blows!

this is all from the same shop at the flea. the owner was chatting so i didn’t get her card but will be back this weekend to find it.

back in reality we shopped for the apartment and made a couple of what i thought were great buys like this versatile jansen table,

and this old mirror to go in the dining room with the less fussy chairs and table between the windows.

and we’re going to revisit this footstool (and i’ll get those chairs for karina gentinetta who loves them as much as i do)!

this was an option for the little desk in the guest room,

and these were the final choice for each of the reading corners in the bedrooms.

we got these pieces delivered to the apartment so tomorrow claudia t is going to clean up the crystals on this bad boy,

the man of the house found this little cutie.

and with a bit of agony, the armoire was carried into its new home where it will stay for all eternity. well, a good long time anyway!

the buffet got waxed up and is getting its second wind. so little by little it’s coming together. more shopping and deliveries tomorrow. i hope i’m not boring the crud out of you but it’s good for me to keep my notes and thoughts and progress all together here.

the highlight of our day off was meeting di overton and tara bradford down the street from our apartment at merci. they are two of the coolest, sweetest, most amazing women i’ve ever met. if you get a chance, dig into their blogs, they’ve been around the world and back and at the same time are just starting new adventures!

ok claudia t is about to pass out so i have to turn out le lumière so bonne nuit!

Thanks, Claudia! Di and I were discussing our rendezvous at dinner and she referred to you as Claudia 1 and the other Claudia as Claudia 2. We had such a great time with you lovely ladies and could have talked for hours! Not sure why I have such pink cheeks and nose in that photo, but never mind – it was really fun spending time with you in the wonderful Merci! Hope to see you after returning from Amsterdam.

P.S. Such beautiful things in these photos. That place at Clignacourt is one of my favourites – if only I had an apartment large enough to hold more chairs like the ones you’ve photographed!

Claudia, you look so happy! :)

Heaven forbid I go shopping in stores like that. I’d have a stroke. (in a good way, of course!)

I thought the hats were wonderful and I kept going on to the next image and the next and the next each one becoming more wonderful than the one before. NOT BORED just deadly jealous!!!!! I would love to be able to shop anywhere in this country that my Grandfather called home. Maybe one day I will swallow a bottle of Xanax and get on a plane!!!! Have fun and I do hope it warms up soon.

I’m so happy they got those chairs for their reading corners. They look so comfy! But I’d have to have an ottoman or footstool to put my feet up. I have to put my feet up when I read.

The mirror will look great with the simple dining table and chairs. And the armoire looks gorgeous in place.

It all just makes me drool!

After that cold day in Paris I felt old and cold but on the way back from Tara’s last night I thought I was going to be settled on la Peripherique. Traffic jams at midnight what’s going on?
It was great to see you both – Claudia 1 and Claudia 2 :) That much information has never flown around one table since World War II. Seriously though it was a lovely day topped off with lovely conversation. Enjoy the rest of your time in Paris and give my love to Claudia 2.
PS The Clignancourt images are to die for, if I had the energy I would be there in a flash :)

I would not have Paris any other way as that it is one of the things that I love best about the French and loving in France, nothing changes or if it does, it happens at a snail’s pace.

Love those hat stands! The mirror is gorgeous and those shades are exactly what I have been looking for.

Cannot wait to see the finished result,

Never bored – I’ll take all the pictures and details you can dish out. So fascinating to see an apartment (a Paris Apartment!) come together like this. I love seeing all the items that you saw and then trying to guess which you and the clients picked out of all those choices to suit their tastes and goals for their home. Very instructive. Thank you thank you thank you!

I love posts like this, especially now that I’m starting my own enterprise and look at shopping sprees like this with a slightly more practical eye than I once did! I adore the chairs, of course. My own chairs here in Oxford are very similar in style, but are varnished instead of painted white. I think that if my husband would ever let me (he won’t) I would paint my floors white and the chairs dove grey, perhaps rubbed with pale gold (and upholster them in grey velvet too).

    Oh Claudia

Who could possible be bored. I’ve loved being with you on your trip through the antique markets and flea markets of Paris, and you’ve brouhgt it all alive with your wonderful narrative.
I don’t want it to end!

So, on my next trip to Paris I can’t wait to visit Clignancourt. My daughter’s French MIL buys furniture there takes the pieces home to the country, restores them and re-sells!
I could see myself doing that except I don’t live in France!!!

I’ve been browsing online more than three hours these days, but I by no means found any fascinating article like yours. It’s pretty value enough for me.
In my opinion, if all webmasters and bloggers made excellent content
material as you did, the web will likely be much more helpful
    than ever before.
