the luxury of solitude

HalftoneBeachrunner

i’ve been traveling and running full force for so long that i can’t imagine what will life be once all the minutia is conquered and can start to tackle lifelong projects.

hi guys, i’m finally starting to unwind, it’s amazing how how much time it takes to untwist. i’m finally feeling normal and it’s only cause i’ve been completely alone for about a week.

after 2 months i started doing yoga again at a place around the corner. this is hanging in the hallway, i hadn’t seen it before:

THE PARADOX OF OUR AGE
We have bigger houses but smaller families;
more conveniences, but less time;
We have more degrees, but less sense;
more knowledge, but less judgement;
more experts, but more problems;
more medicines, but less healthiness;
We’ve been all the way to the moon and back,
but have trouble crossing the street to meet
the new neighbor.
We build more computers to hold more
information to produce more copies then ever,
but have less communication;
We have become long on quantity,
but short on quality.
These are times of fast foods
but slow digestion;
Tall men but short character;
Steep profits but shallow relationships.
It’s a time when there is much in the window,
but nothing in the room.

    The Art of Happiness by the Dalai Lama – a must read.

    Really great post Claudia. You never disappoint. The Dalai Lama’s words ring true, incredibly true. I spent the entire day on my computer, & feel dissatisfied for not enjoying the beautiful day. I crave technology, but it’s a tight rope to walk.

    Hope you are sitting & enjoying a cup ot tea & relaxing this evening?

    Claudia, I can so relate, I cherish my alone time and become quite grumpy if I’m deprived of it for long periods of time!

    So glad you are unwinding and finding some peace & quiet.

    It’s very strange and fascinating how things in the blogging world coincide with each other. Just yesterday I was thinking about Buddhism. I studied it many years ago and so much of it rang true to me. I was thinking, yesterday, about reading some more on it. Maybe I’ll pick up the Dalai Lama’s book again

    Claudia,
    Thank you so much for sharing this with us. I do enjoy my “by-myself-time”, which is probably why I stay up much later than my husband does, working on my art projects and blogging! I’m so much more productive then.

    I loved the top picture of this post so much!!

    Have a wonderful day!!

    So so true these words of Dalai Lama. My dad had every one of his books and all of his tapes. I think we are breaking away from this concept with the ecconomy… we are getting back to basics and finding what really matters again. I keep saying, there is a reason all this is happening, we are being forced to look within as Dalai Lama taught. Have fun running on the moon dewdrop…doesn’t untwisting feel so good?

    How apropos. I returned to my yoga yesterday after way too many months devoted to other things … I always return wondering how I could have let the minutia take over ? It happens so easy doesn’t it ? Breath in all the good ! XOL

    I have read that before, but it is a beautiful reminder of the peace and connection that is possible if we slow down enough to “let” it. I will print that out as I have been feeling overwhelmed lately.

    You get some rest!! And enjoy the yoga – I love it as it is a very peaceful place to go and I always feel amazing for hours afterwards. Just to get out of my head for a while!!

    ;)

    I think I remember reading that quote from the Dali Lama before, but it didn’t sink in evidently. Thanks for re-minding me.

    “We’ve been all the way to the moon and back, but have trouble crossing the street to meet the new neighbor.” So true and so sad. I don’t know, really KNOW any of my neighbors and I’ve lived in the same apartment for 24 years!!! But I love getting to know and spend time with my cyber neighbors. I wonder what that says about me. Have some of us lost the touch? I’ll have to think on this.
