You have given us all a wonderful gift with these beautiful photographs. I love everything about BG & would have missed these windows this year…they are always a work of art, & each time we are amazed they outdid themselves. Nowhere is it this beautiful! I will send your pics to all my girlfriends…so much better than a regular Christmas card, right? Merci Beaucoup

  2. Joy replied:

This is SO one of the reasons I must visit NY at Christmas!

p.s. I live in cold Canada – that must be why I am grouchy ALL THE TIME.

I saw the windows last weekend and your photos captured their beauty and opulence. A friend remarked that she was surprised BG went all out this year, I for one was greatful, it is nice to stare and dream a bit. We all need a little fantasy in our lives! Did you catch Cartier when you were out? They looked amazing too!

  6. Vicki replied:

I have been to Paris and Rome but NEVER to New York…it is on my list after seeing these beautiful pictures. Thanks Claudia!!!!

  7. Michele replied:

  10. theparisapartment replied:

bergdorf’s designers go all out every month on the windows, yet they’re relatively unknown, at least to me. i wonder whether there’s a book documenting them. i just checked u tube and found the video above. i’m super happy to share them and that you had fun with them was a major cherry on top for me! i didn’t get to cartier but saw lord and taylor, macy’s and henri bendel, but none came close to BG!

  11. Fifi Flowers replied:

Oh, Claudia! Thank you so much for these pictures. The store windows were always my favorite part of going into the City at Christmas time. I can hear all the Santas ringing their bells and feel the cold air! Ah yes, it is finally Christmas time.

  20. Demetrios Argyropoulos replied:

    Hi Claudia-
I’m part of the team that does the windows here at Bergdorf and we loved your pics and all the commentary. Thanks for coming and thanks for sharing!

  21. theparisapartment replied:

Hi Demetrios, thank you so much for writing, what a great surprise! As you can see you’ve captivated us all this year! I know we’d all love to see a compilation of your displays, both holiday and throughout the year. Is there anywhere all this beauty is documented or is it like a dream you’re lucky enough to remember?
Thanks for making NY so beautiful and miraculous!

  25. The Deco Detective replied:

O…M…G… Words fail me. I’m so saving this for next Christmas as an inspiration (although my holiday decoration budget might be just a teensy bit smaller than BG’s). Boyfriend, be afraid. Be very afraid…
Happy Holidays Claudia, hope the weather will improve!

  27. Melissa Lewis - Off The Wall replied:

Claudia, these windows are fabulous. I have been to NY twice, but would love to go around Christmas time. Especially to see the famous windows!!!! I do the windows and visuals for JCrew here in Memphis, on a MUCH smaller scale, so I am so interested in this. So detailed and so magical!

    Thanks for this wonderful tour!!!!!

    Oh yeah, Merry Christmas dear:)

  28. theparisapartment replied:

i’d love to travel to document the windows each month, that sounds like a plan! i’m just thrilled you loved them so much too!
this note came from Demetrious about the books on the windows:
Well the Bergdorf Goodman website posts a few pictures a year, but
they’re a little hard to find on the website! There was a book a few years
back published by Assouline called “Dreams Through the Glass”, but it was
mainly earlier windows from when Linda Fargo was the window director (It is
now David Hoey and Linda is VP Visual and Fashion Director). It’s out of
print but they can be found on Amazon usually. I like flickr for finding
good pics of the windows, because someone is always snapping good pics and
posting them! And of course we love to see what the bloggers are saying!
    Keep it up!

that was a really fun note to get. if you blogging sleuths see the book let me know!
on another note, i keep meaning to come visit you all but i’m with my parents for a few days and between the baking and the shopping, wrapping and visitors, i’m exhausted! happy holidays and i’ll be over soon i hope!

  29. Terri replied:

Oh my goodness, that is utterly exquisite! Thank you SO MUCH for sharing this. It is surreal, but JUST THIS MORNING as I was taking the train into work, we passed by one of the department stores downtown and I noticed how boring their windows were. It made me think back to living in Montreal where some of the department stores took some pride in creating a beautiful window – nothing like NYC of course, but at least creative and pretty. I actually started thinking how nice it would be to visit NYC (or other big american city) for Christmas some time, just to see the windows and all the decorating glory. So imagine my surprise to come across this post! Thanks SO much!

    Merry Christmas and have fun!
    xo Terri

  30. Marie Antionette replied:

  37. addison replied:

    happy holidays!!

  38. Virginia Smith replied:

I made a special trip to New York last year to see the Tony Duquette windows…the first time I’d ever seen their special holiday windows in person. I met Tony Duquette in the 70’s (although I didn’t know who he was at the time) when I did window displays for the antiques business in L.A. and later knew some of his antique dealer friends who were quirky and inspiring.
The talent that goes into these temporary works of art as well as the brilliant marketing scheme behind it can inspire interior design, party themes, weddings, color schemes, every kind of creative endeavor. Thanks for sharing this years windows. I am again inspired!

  39. sonia roselli replied:
