good morning all! it’s uber early and i’m sending a bouquet your way to make sure to and smell the roses. (even if they’re ether :)

as i watch the news it’s apparent not everyone had a peaceful night as tornadoes hit texas and demolished homes and lives. many hit were under construction by habitat for humanity and it’s prompted me to get it together and finally register to work on the sites currently underway here in florida.HFH

it was surprisingly easy to register and if you want to check it out in your neck of the woods,  follow this link and choose by project or date from the calendar:

www.habitat.org

i’ll be heading to Liberty City which is one of the towns we usually just pass through (really fast) to reach our upholstery factory. it’s a community that is in desperate need of love and this is a chance to spread a little!

HF-H

they need volunteers in all parts of the country so if you are working on a project or end up volunteering for one, let me know. well i’m off to get this day started. have a wonderful weekend!

cracking the whip

hi guys! i have only a milisec before my computer dies and/or claudia forces me back to work. we have lots to prep for tomorrow but i wanted to do a quick post.  claudia helped me arrange the shelves and liz had the idea to hang the chandi by a dowel between the bookcases.

i’ve been wanting to do this wall and especially the nooks for so long but just couldn’t motivate. sometimes it takes friends as we all know! i took a couple vignettes but have a lot more to fit into this day so gotta run.

more soon, have a great day!

what’s in front of us

good morning! hope you had a great weekend! it’s crack of dawn and we were supposed to shoot at 8am but wires crossed  and it looks we may have a day of reprieve. today i’m tackling  loose ends  and not taking on any more projects big or small till this is DoNe! it’s been a hub of activity at chez moi and  liz and claudia II have been fluttering around like fairy godmothers fixing,  fastening and  fluffing stuff ready and keep me calm.

and it feels like we’re finally getting there.  the wall, the shelves and the upholstery! when the light comes up  i’ll take some after shots and post this afternoon. till then, breakfast is all that’s in front of me!

have a great week!

where the days go

hey guys! how’s your week going? i’ve been running around like crazy cause phase one of the event i can’t yet mention is coming quick. we shoot on february 13 and 14. so i’m upholstering, making pillows, editing spreadsheets and almost too tired to blog. but when i was going thu my phone i thought you may enjoy a little of it. i have about a minute left to share it. (my guy and i said no computers after dinner tonite so it’s now or never)!

we cracked open the warehouse and there are lots of pretty things but everything needs to be tweaked so i did some fabric shopping today. i love graphics and a few of these vintage benches above could use a mod pick-me-up!

i didn’t even get any of these but it was funny to see what i shot at the end of the day. actually i did get one

i was getting into the linens

and prints

this one was embroidered. it’s the one i got (for a long lucite bench)

scenes from the warehouse

tiny chandeliers

palm beach green circa 1970!

feather tables

well my date’s here, gotta go, more tomorrow!

it’s a start

hi all, thank you so much for your ideas and suggestions yesterday!  i’m sure if i didn’t blog that door would have stayed white as rice till i moved out. but i came across this shot of a dorothy draper room just as i was closing down last night and decided to use it as inspiration for painting the door.

and they reminded me of the doors we had at the AD show that i secretly hoped wouldn’t sell. so with the simplicity of gold as the catalyst, i went to michael’s and splurged on the tools of the trade. the giant variety pack of brushes was just $5 and the paint was $2. tape must have been $6.  i was on a strict budget so this was a way to satiate this apparent creative urge but not go crazy.

once i really looked at the doors and the detail there were more options than i realized.  and as someone who loves trim in multiple colors there are a lot of potential combos.

i’m considering painting the thin outer edge frame. maybe black? but not today. today was just the gold. and blue if you count the tape! it’s  been handy visually cause some of the other options got blocked out.  i may even keep it up.   ;p

inside, outside, double lines, single inset, panel or frame?

decisions are tough! but phew, i committed and got through it  :)

well that leaves space for colors but what and where?  i’m open to suggestions and love your ideas.

next project is the wall. below is the chair at the AD show with gracie wallpaper behind it.  maybe something like that? i Or just silvery metallic out of a can? i could probably paint branches and leaves. a bird? that’s asking a lot but then again if i can tape out a door, sky’s the limit!

well, that’s about it for tonight. it was a long, good day, chock full of much of a muchness so  i’m off to retire. bonne nuit mes cheres cheries!!

every little thing

hi guys, i hope you’re having a great weekend! it’s really early sunday morning and i’m about to head out for a road trip but wanted to post this real quick. we were busy yesterday building a wardrobe from ikea and painting the headboard. i was going for the gold but liz was totally against it and besides, i already had white high gloss. i was in an easy mood so like many decorating decisions, it was chosen by default which is sometimes best. anyway everything in florida things should be light and airy, n’est pas?

now with the armoire there’s tons of storage with shelves and drawers. and the cream glossy  lacquer doors thrill me!

well this was about as un-memorial day a post i could have done so before i go, want to thank all those who serve or have served in our military. come home safe and soon! have a great day everyone!

fragments in time

hi guys, how are you this april evening? hope your monday was un-remarkable or totally fabulous. it’s already 11pm and i don’t know where the days go!

just now i was searching through journalfest and came across pam garrison’s blog. tonight she talked about her pages and how to keep on working on them even if you don’t like them, that the important thing is just doing them. her post from  yesterday intrigued me too cause she’s making an art piece for an auction for japan (above)  and she’s going to pair the flag with some of her embroidery.

i’ve been an admirer for a long time but saw a lot more of her artistic sides and fell in love with her sweet designs in every genre.

this is one very talented artist, the more i dug in the more layers were uncovered. if i’ve ever recommended a link to you, forget them all and go to the one above. her book-making is LeGeNd and this video is a quick walk through her world.

painter, sketch artist, seamstress, etsy proprietress! pam, you are my idol tonight!  your gift to japan is mighty mighty. i hope to offer something too besides just donation. thanks for the push and the insights into your artist mind.

bonne nuit tous!

so ready for bed

The bed is a bundle of paradoxes:  we go to it with reluctance, yet we quit it with regret.  ~Charles Caleb Colton

hi guys, another full day at the show and it still seems like i just skimmed the surface. the last thing i want to do is go back tomorrow, especially with the flea markets on but i just didn’t get it all done. today i focused on finding the perfect bed for the AD show, something that will be a crown jewel in the booth. these were a couple of contenders.

this show weird, the more you see, the more there is to see. hall after hall, mega booths galore, no wonder my clients burn out and start to hate my guts after a few hours! i’m starting to crash myself but will carry on.

the books are always my favorite part of the show, maybe tomorrow after the twice-over i’ll get a chance to go through some of them. maybe even leave early and hit the fleas, that would be the perfect day. ok well, i’m definitely at my limit today. good night!

it’s the little things

happy monday everyone ~ i hope you’re winding down a little and doing just what you want!

i wanted to introduce those of you who don’t know her to one of my readers, amy friend. she sent me a link to her work today and i just fell in love. in this series she shoots her grandmother’s old nightgowns. if you’re like me, you’re a sucker for those old beauties. i was mesmerized by the way she brings them back to life. they’re almost like sea creatures.

amyfriend.ca

below are some of her interior shots. amazing what good light and french doors can do…oh and the right photographer!

well, i confess, i just wanted to stop in and say hey and feel creative even  just for a minute. i’m actually working on the tedious  technical  grooming of all my email contacts combined with the creation of a special newsletter that needs to get done pronto.  it’s a big one and i want to finish it and get it sent  (hopefully to you guys), which by the by, if i don’t have your email address and you want to get the news, email me at theparisapartment@gmail.com or leave a comment and mention it, i can get it from there.

ps if you do host a giveaway, i’ll put it in the newsletter so let me know!

ok back to it! have a fab nuit!

pss it’s a couple days later, amy is such a doll and we added these to the boutique, take  a look if you get a chance:

‘it’s easier to dress up than down’…liz

hey guys, happy monday! it  was a couple hard core days working with my bf,  liz  and i was just too tired to plug in past the bare minimum. we had a ball though!  i’ll let you know when i can talk about it, she’s pretty undercover as you may have noticed.

the good news is i’m recharged and back in action. but  it also means having to get back to the deadlines so can i only stay a minute YET again  :(

anyway it’s good to get back to my own life. happily it includes starting plans for the spring trip to paris. i wasn’t sure of the dates so only started looking just now.

as usual, it was a pool of intriguing and fascinating places available. we’re going to have a crew to work on a bunch of projects (hopefully liz included…if you want her to come, let her know! then again she doesn’t even know what a blog is)!

just a surface glance at a couple apartments got my heart going all over again for this city i never get tired of!

it’s so random!

and slightly bizarre

forgive me for not matching the photos and the links. i’m being lazy and have to run!
