like we need a reason to idolize these guys
hey guys, it’s been way too long. i’ve been in a funk since getting back and just needed to decompress and check out. if anything could snap me out of it, it’s got to be father’s day. i’m about to see my whole family for the first time since december and that is going to be pure soul food!
trolling through flickr i came across these old images and can never choose just one. and i don’t have to! there’s so much of my dad’s influence in what i do, i don’t think i realized how much till seeing these pictures here all together. he’s the one who taught me about the nuances of the 20s and 30s in drawings, fonts, color palettes. funny how so much of what we are is from our parents.
(mom, you influenced me too but in lots of other ways :)
so dad, happy father’s day and thank you for being my dad, guru and rock. i love you! happy father’s day to all of you, have a wonderful day with the ones you love!

For me you said it all…with “you understand”.
My Dad was the one I called if there was a problem…like putting a little dent in the family car.
When I phoned and said to my mom..”Can I speak to Dad?”..she knew I had a boo boo.
Love those Dads!!

And your father is also very blessed to have you!
Love how you describe getting together with your family as pure soul food! I feel the same about my large family – so I might just adopt that description!
A warm hug all the way from Seattle.

Dearest Claudia and Co,
This fathers day has been bitter sweet for me as it’s my son’s first Father-less Fathers Day.
When you have a son that is deserted by a worthless father it truly makes you appreciate your own father just for being there.
There are too many sons and daughters growing up without Daddies, That any man who is there, paying school fees and bringing home a wage to feed his kids and love them deserves to be appreciated on Fathers Day.
It makes all the little things I blamed my Dad for seem so pathetic, because he was, at least, there for me and loved and provided for me.
I LOVE DADS!!!
Big hugs all, Sadie at Flea xxx

ugg! i don’t know how a dad can turn his back on a child. my dad had the same thing happen to him as a kid and that’s why he wanted to create such a strong family base for all of us. i know even with just you, your son will be loved and feel treasured so happy father’s day to you woMAN! xc

Sigh…. I’m such a daddy’s girl. A lovely post to remind me how grateful for my own daddy’s love. One can never quite describe with the right words what it feels like to have a father’s unconditional love… A mixture of loyalty, patience, love, laughter, and forgiveness…And in my case….extra patience and forgiveness!!! May we cherish our fathers (and mothers!) every day!
