we’re all alone
mmmm i have the apartment to myself after a big day walking the stationery and icff shows but not for long so i’m grabbing this time to post all about it! both are at the javits till tomorrow. i really wasn’t in the mood to go but i found such incredible things and got completely inspired once i stepped inside. if you go this time or next, visit the surtex section to meet manufacturers who will private label for you, design bedding, paper and just about anything you can imagine. these vintage books from europe are sold by potterton books and are sold as royalty free designs. Oh the collections!
i was thrilled to see one of my favorite bloggers there, anahata katkin.
her work is devastatingly beautiful and she gives workshops throughout the year. she was in belize but had a super team at the booth. when i asked to take a pic, of course they they thought i meant of them!
i forgot my memory stick so didn’t get any other shots unfortunately. lots of the illustrators, textile collectors and those with one of a kind pieces don’t have a website. i almost want to go back tomorrow but it’s another full one at the crack so i don’t think it will happen.
the icff was just as amazing as the paper goods and a completely different vibe. it was high energy (the archival textiles and stuff like that is handles really delicately). the pieces were magnificent. there were art installations like this which is a window box concept by micaDesign.org. they were students from mica who had lots of great green ideas.
so that’s it, i have to get back to the second shift but before i go maybe i’ll check out some of the websites from the sea of cards and brochures i picked up. i tried to be sparing but it’s a wonderland of beautiful things! hope you enjoy them too:
(i’m such a sucker for an embosser) have a bon soiree!

Anahata is one of my favorites too. I love that Perception notebook. She reminds me of a Renaissance/Borg Metamorph. And how perfect are those sliding window gardens! If my building owner would approve (which they won’t) I’d definitely screw one on.

isn’t she the ultimate? as for the window boxes, i doubt that my landlord would either. it’s going to have to be a serious forward thinker!

I just want to run my fingertips over the edges of these papers. Just the edges, don’t want to ruin them ; ) Oh, beautiful!
