i’m under a spell
i forgot how much i love new york. i know i’m really hard on the city. but it was hard on me and still is!
guess it’s a love/hate affair. after a grueling day going up to the top and back down to the bottom (twice)! i asked my buddy tony to head toward the west village cause i needed what i knew was there.
i confess i am starting to have a passion for window boxes. thank god for them, they make the such a difference.
tony was so kind whenever i yelled stop! or back up! and let me get my groove on.
they’re like window candies, and you know this is only skimming the surface.
this obviously wasn’t a window box but it was random beauty
same here. how could i resist this powder puff?
these windows were all in a 5 block radius.
well i’m back on the east side now. it’s been a chilly day and they’re filming a head and shoulders commercial outside my window. so going in and out it looks like the dead of winter. guess i should be relieved i missed the real thing and soak up this spring!
i hear them wrapping it up now
tomorrow’s a busy day, i’m headed to the icff and the stationery show at the javits in the morning. tony wants me to send pics of robin’s backyard so i’ll post them in a hot sec. then it’s off to chow. a girl’s gotta eat after all! bon nuit!

that’s a great term– window candy.
I tend to have a sketchy history with my own window boxes– having to replace them several times a season. Let that be my worst trait. Glad to have you in NY.

I love the way you photograph, what an eye!!!! I have to admit, I’m loving the window boxes, I’m on the lookout now! :) Wishing you a great trip!

What a beautiful post – I love window boxes too, and I have dozens and dozens of pictures of window boxes from my two favorite cities, London and Charleston (both of which are fantastic window box places).

We’re looking for window boxes right now, on the cheap. Even tiny ones in your pictures get the job done. Now I’m not quite so intimidated.

This is my first comment on your blog. It’s truly wonderful! As a native NYer, I know it can be a tough hard place. It demands alot, but gives alot in return. The window boxes are delightful.

you’re absolutely right mango. it sets a high bar but when you touch it even for a sec you’re so rewarded. i’m glad you left a note, and hope you come back often!

New York’s never easy, but darn it’s sexy isn’t it!?! Walking home this morning after popping out to the bakery for some morning bread, I looked up at my apartment and my windows looked so bare. I realized thanks to you Claudia, that I needed Window Boxes. My weekend project involves copious quantities of geraniums followed by an afternoon on my balcony with my husband grilled brats and pretending to be a potager!

I just love beautiful windows with flowers on the outside. I just posted some pics like recently from my trip to Israel in 2006. I love looking at doors and windows from the street and thinking about what it might look like on the inside.
