this fine day
(chez prada)
it was not a busy or especially productive day, but it was special. it’s funny how different things look when you try to stand still in a world of chaos. ny has a way of trying to hustle everything. if paris taught me anything it was to slow down and do one thing at a time. and enjoy it! now i’m the one who won’t be rushed!
hi guys, i’m just checking in. it’s sort of a seinfeld day, a post about nothing but a small hello. i’m taking it easy, what with it being sunday afternoon and all. no stress, no troubles. the next few days are pretty packed so today i just cleaned and took the plastic off the chairs after 2 years.
they’re not my chairs so i’ve been reverent about it for a long time, and they’re here in the apartment. i figure if i’m not going to enjoy this gorgeous 50′s chintz, who will?
spending the day here i really saw what disrepair the building across the street has fallen into. usually it’s beaming with pride but it looks like a war zone! it’s probably the perfect place for some flowerbox love.
the flowers are fun but if don’t focus i’ll get totally sidetracked from what i came to ny to do. and i think that’s what makes me so nuts. there’s always something else to get involved with…
on another note, i’d love to get a video camera. on the plane coming home from that trip i read how people are becoming video travel journalists in their own home towns. there’s an academy run by the travel chanel, who may even buy the videos. i’m still trying to master the single shot but want to learn about shooting video. i’m going to explore what’s out there. do you have one? anyway, just sending some love and hope you have a great sunday night and fantastique week mes amis, a demain!

Always lovely visiting your beautiful blog! So glad you saw the write-up about Bungalow Hotel in NJ. — what a place, huh? :)
Regarding slowing down in the midst of chaos…oh how needed! Yet, like you mentioned later in this post, there are always so many other things “calling our names” that we want to involve ourselves in, no? Somewhere in the middle of the two is where we try to strike that balance…if only occasionally. :)
Such is the creative mind, I suppose. And I suppose I would not have it any other way, even if I could.
Best to you!

I love that part of the Prada store! I was last there in that store in 2006 when they had the Skirt Exhibition and they had the most fantastic display in that section of the store.

The architecture in that building is amazing. I hate passing by beautiful homes and buildings that have been let go.
I think I would have peeled the plastic off those chintz upholstered chairs as well…

Hi Friend,
So you are back in NY?
Helping your cousin. With a Videocam!!! COOL!
ME~wants to TRY a Videocam!!!!!!!!
About this post what speaks to me is how you present
the fast pace and the slow life:
I like to have fast pace energy, but at this point I feel surprised to feel gratitude to living in a place that feels that there is Demerol in the air!
Have fun with all you are doing now!
All is well in my neck of the woods!

The building across the street seriously needs flowerbox love. Architecturally, what a great building though. Can’t believe Robin S. is your cousin. I love her as Dorian! I feel like she’s my cousin, I’ve watched her for so many years.
Thanks for the link re: real estate classes. I am happy to report I am half way done with my classes. Chose to do half online & half in the classroom. I’m excited your still hoping to get your license. (: Good changes
