i don’t need much
hi all! lots of changes and pots being stirred these days! friends came over last nite and told me to take pics of my place. i don’t know why it’s so hard to photog your own stuff…mine is never finished i guess, and to tell you the truth, i’m thinking of moving already! a friend gave me ‘the secret’ for my b’day and i just read the part about visualization and practicing laws of attraction. my focus is now not just to live by the water but to have direct ocean views (this apt faces the street with no outdoor space and i can have that in nyc)! so even tho i just got here, it’s time to move on up! of course it’s my pipe dream but don’t tell the universe!
in the meantime these wonderful friends have been filters and curtains from street stuff
i got this painting yesterday to visualize my new view. liz said it looked like a bad motel but in a good way. i loved that compliment.
this one i got at a thrift shop
basically i’m posting these slightly embarrassing pics cause it’s the only way i’m going to do what i tell clients to do…love what you have, do a little each day and know that it’s a work in progress…no i don’t have the right bed, and my pillowcases are mismatched. but i just finally stopped sweating it. today i’m enjoying what IS not what’s not! and that’s lot’s more fun!

Oh, I love the concept of loving and appreciating what IS there even if it’s not perfect! Thanks for that uplifting post. That was one of the best things about The Secret in my opinion was the practising of gratitude from the hear of what is already in your life. I live in a very small terrace and find myself over the years yearning for a larger space but I’ve recently practised bonding with my home and it’s such a great exercise to do. x

What’s that saying – the mechanic’s car is always in the shop? ;) We tend to do for others but never for ourselves. But your place STILL looks good! An ocean view is your destiny though… :) :) :)

I love this post. It’s easy to get caught up in the design blogs and feel like you live in a very shabby imitation. But there is always at least one detail in your home (and hopefully more) that really does express what you love and wouldn’t change. Better to focus on those, feel happy and know that there will be more to come. Those designer photo shoots should make us feel inspired not defeated! I just started a blog and I’m adding your site to my list of favorites. Looking forward to reading more.

Thanks for the photo of Fred Astaire and Jack Buchanan. I love that number they do and found it and watched it on youtube. Very classy, understated and lovely. Two greats.
Thanks, also, for your blogs, insights, creativity. We all get caught up in our lives, but are all exactly where we are supposed to be. The universe is working exactly as it should.

Hi Claudia!
I feel like you spoke to what I am going through right now. I still live in an apartment and always yearn for a place of my own. So sometimes I go through a slump where I let things go or use the excuse that this is temporary so why bother. Yesterday I was procrastinating about items on my to do list when I started shifting things around. By the end of the day, I was in love with my “home” again. Home is truly where you are at the moment and what you make of it. And what you put in is what you get out. I haven’t read The Secret but know they would agree. Don’t look for perfection, look for what is perfect for you!
P.S. The items on my to do list didn’t get done but I got a great nights sleep anyway.

I have learned the hard way to like what I have. Make the most of what you’ve got.
But, I still go to the flea markets just in case I find something I like better.
THAT’S the fun for me!!!

I have to agree that your mismatching pillows mismatch in a most becoming way!
I love the concept of a home as a work in progress! I think that that is how it should be – as alive as its occupants.
Good luck with the secret…(I’m working on that too)
