a wing and a prayer
i’m taking my mind off the AD show for a sec and going thru some of the great web stuff i’ve come across yesterday and today. who knew that abc carpet was so on it environmentally? i love that they will totally solarize your home: www.abcrealgoodssolar.com
or you can just peruse the site for beauty and inspiration at www.abchome.com.
i actually LOVE this store and it was the catalyst i needed to start a business in ’93. if you’re coming to nyc, put it on your hit list!
these are pics of the newly renovated plaza hotel. i think they did a good job mixing playful elegance with unstuffy.
the images came from jen ramos at made by girl. her blog is full of eye candy and i kept going back to it throughout the day, lovin and being inspired by her.
when i went there just now to get the url i saw her new post for us animal lovers :
really i should be getting back to work but a couple others that i passed thru were so pretty i have to pass them on:
it’s been awhile but pretty pam garrison inspired me
these are her gorgeous extravagant liasons as in Somerset Magazine.
also, check out the brand new material girls. i adore their banner, and they have lots of good info. hi emily!
finally, the wing and the prayer i’m referring to? that would be the Architectural Digest show I’m so determined to do. but many of you probably know, putting on a show is a lot of detail! so much for my relaxing and writing in miami for awhile. one of our lines uses these old maps of downtown nyc. they really are pink and so pretty! it’s kind of like google satellite with house numbers and lots!
ok i have to get back to work, the excel sheet is calling…it so goes against my grain to do this end of it!
you you you
thank you all for playing, that was so much fun! i promise to do it all the time, how about friday’s we rendezvous ici?
for my first giveaway, the winner is the wonderful Lorraine who writes lpvintage.com
i’m so happy to meet you and get a glimpse into your world. it was fun going thru your site and older posts.
fyi, Lorraine is so diverse! one of her posts led me to karla, who i adore, and then to scrapblog.com, a really interesting site and what could be the wave of the future. it would be a fun way to do a book. can’t wait to dig in, have you seen it or done any pages? these are Lorraines: Jax and Finn
and truth be told, i stole this idea of the random number generator someplace and can’t remember where! if you know let me know! anyway it was the perfect tool for this, check it out random.org at or this beauty LOL!
thank you all for stopping by, i love my friends and can’t wait to visit every website of you who wrote and explore the world thru your beautiful eyes! xo
me me me
i’m a little tired of talking about myself all the time. i’ve been answering a lot of comments (something i haven’t had the luxury of doing till lately), and have had the chance to explore all the luscious blogs out there. my next post will be about sharing them!
but…i just got a copy of Romantic Homes for Valentine’s Day and was one of the contributers on what’s romantic to me. i was blown away by the company i was in and completely inspired by their layouts and stories! here’s a sampling:
i am in love with this woman from House, Inc. look at her layout!

my girl Tara Frey:
this was mine of course:
i could go on and on, it’s a beautiful issue as usual. i know there are so many of you out there with so much talent. if you want to showcase it in a magazine, i suggest you contact RH with some shots of your stuff. they are so easy to work with and always need new ideas so why not?
ok, on another note, i’m paring down and just have way too much stuff. this batch was used in a photoshoot recently and i’m not taking it to florida or putting it in storage sooooo, it’s going to be my first giveaway! if you leave a comment i’ll have the random number counter choose the winner. free shipping, LOL!
the future is bright
surfing around i found this pretty french fabric house. i love the way they shot the detail.
it’s funny when sad things happen how good ones do too. like the universe wants to make us feel better…
between all the beauty on the blogs and the web i feel like staying home all day today surfing. (not to mention the chill in the ny the air)! I forgot my camera so what’s the point of going out? LOL. my good news is that i’m doing a shoot with VOG*E and Steven M**SEL using my lucite funiture and have to get some pieces upholstered tout de suite for a shoot on Tuesday. it may be the most exciting thing that’s ever happened to me! (career wise ;)
and it’s still in the works but i think i’m going to do the Architectural Digest Home Design Show as a first time exhibitor this March in NYC. at least that’s my goal. They saw the Helena Rubenstein chair in a mag and asked me to participate! (i felt so special so how could i say no)? now i really have to get it together, products, site, booth decor. the pressure is on. please come if you can!
Ce que j’aime en toi
i took a day or so to get used to my new situation, to look around and just be without rushing. Corey inspired me to take some pics of the things i passed on the daily here in miami. (more to come)
and this book i ordered on french amazon finally arrived! it’s a compilation by husband and women artists who created images of what they love about each other. i happened to be lucky enough to meet one of the artists (France Dumas) as she was sketching the fleamarket at clingancourt one day and we became friends. now she’s going to do the illustrations for my fleamarket book on Paris now that i have the time to sit and write!
i love the variety of styles
these line drawings below are France’s
so that’s it for now. i just wanted to say hi and let you know i was ok, and thank you for all your support over the past couple of days. i’m going to nyc tonite for the weekend and will surely be my old self soon! love to you all, xoc
One in a Million You
(our first day together)
sorry i’ve been an absentee blogger lately, but as you many know i’ve been taking care of my babylove, Daisy dog. well, yesterday was our last day together. she and i went to the beach and she passed away quietly later in the day. i thank her for getting me to florida and staying just long enough to spend one night together in the new place. we’ve seen 3 decades together and she was the most gentle pitbull to walk this earth. this corny Larry Graham song below was ours. of course this blog is a place i feel at home, so thank you all for always being here. so snuggle, smooch and smother your little angels today from us!
love c & d
Love has played its games on me so long.
I started to believe I’d never find anyone,
that could try to convince me to give in.
Said you can’t win.
But one day the sun came shining through.
The rain had stopped, and the skies were blue.
And oh, what a revelation to see…
someone was saying “I love you” to me.
A one in a million, chance of a lifetime.
Then life showed compassion,
and sent to me a stroke of luck called you…
a one in a million you.
I was a lonely man with empty arms to fill.
Until I found a piece of happiness to call my own.
And life is worth living again.
For to love you, to me, is to live…
i told you it was corny! well today i took lots of time to write you all back, thank you so much. having time now to get back to my life and sharing this world with you is a great gift. one blog led to another, so of course i have to pass them on cause they’re so beautiful…
Feeding my soul is Corey’s awe-inspiring blog, Tongue and Cheek
thank you for coming, you know i love and adore you!
Glimpsing Shocking Stockings
‘Anything Goes’ was the theme the past couple days at ‘Art Deco Weekend’ here on south beach. what a ton of fun events, including these classics at the auditorium:
the deco lovers were out in full force, a highlight for me was seeing Doris Eaton Travis, the oldest living Ziegfield Follies girl. her new book is out and is abFAB, full of pics and her unbelievable story.
great and unusual vendors with art, ephemera and vintage clothes lined the street along ocean drive
where else can you be a tamara lempinka girl?
ok well gotta go, i’m interviewing kimberly tonight from hip Tranquil Chick and it starts now!
xoc
