the fabric of time
getting my books together for the trip i found this gorgeous 1956 Memoirs of Madame DuBarry at the Strand. It’s such a jewel of a bookstore. the book is pink with little silver stars and a blue binding so of course i had to style it on the chaise cause it’s sold and i’ll miss it. my only regret was not getting it here sooner!

Precious Women is another book on my latest obsession, the women who shaped Paris’ decor and made it the silky seductress it is today. in fact that’s what i’ll be working on while i’m there. writing about the hostesses who created venues like Salon Bleu and hosted gatherings of great minds while trying to find beauty among the sewage and gallows of early paris.
everyone made fun of them. moliere was the worst and tried to destroy them with his satires. maybe he wasn’t invited to the parties?
Love the table of contents! The Coquettes, The Precieuse, The Bourgeoisie and Worse!

the chaise longue looks gorgeous and the book with its silver stars matches perfectly with the blue cloth.
mme. dubarry did make her ways back then. although coming from a simple background she managed to arrive at the royal court in paris. however as many women of those days she ended at the guillotine…all in all worth writting books about her!
