Solar Power Generation for ipods, cellphones & hey, why not President?
you know how in the 70′s the ozone was disintegrating, and society as a whole had to try to stop it? and then they did? i think we can do that too without giving up our equivalent of aquanet hairspray. i love changing seasons and the thick arctic ice. so for today, maybe tomorrow too, i don’t care about my curtains or my business. everyone is healthy, life is perfect, and i want to focus on solving easy global problems myself instead of waiting for the feds to get a clue. my latest crusade is a passion for solar energy. for me the time has come to go solar! as a sun sign (aries) i’m SO into it!
these are the two solar powered cell phone charges i found the most comprehensive. there weren’t a lot of reviews, but some articles etc. even tho the technology’s been around awhile, they’re still not mainstream. but maybe they will be now cause now they come in pink, blue, green, white and yellow! and for the boys, well, LL bean makes one tough and black for them. ours are pretty and dainty!
tada! behold the charger: (they give you free itunes with this one)

A review from treehugger.com:

a techie review:
Why we like it: If everyone is buying iPods and cell phones this season, why not give a different gift they can use with their new gadgetry?
Lightweight and simple, I could see leaving this on the passenger seat while I drive, or poking out of a picnic basket at the beach while my
sheltered cellie recharges, or in airports and countries where you’ve lost that crazy four pronged
adaptor or just can’t get near an outlet. A little help from the sun may be all you need to make that one last call or check your voicemail.

concerning our environment, over here in the netherlands we are aware since the last decade. we seperate our garbage carefully, use less electrical equipments in our homes and are very conscious about nature. solar energy is pretty expensive but in the past there have been allowances provided by the government to install this kind of energy providers on roofs. we all try to contribute with small individual initiatives(for example i don’t have a dishwasher etc.)

I love this idea- not only is it green, but it works for people who are always on the go. You don’t need to be stuck searching for an outlet. Now they need one for laptops too! Am getting one asap.

If we can send a man to the moon, we can surely get solar energy to go mainstream. It frustrates me when the governement takes the slow raod on these things. Great links Claudia!
