Minimilism at its finest

This is my apartment, a loft that has many challenges. Like a giant Mr. Slim air conditioner right over one of the 3 huge windows!

what would YOU do with that ac unit??!!

I’ll be so interested to see how you decorate your new place! I’m in the process of home buying and have no inspiration at all. Usually I can visualize something, anything…but this time…*poof*
Your new kitchen has a bigger kitchen than the one in the house we’re trying to buy! Le sigh.

it was a gift from the heavens…i am like you though with this one…i live here with my boyfriend and i’m not used to having to take him into consideration…moi aussi, le sigh…

I’d be honored to be showcased on your blog!!! I want to showcase you too!!! We’ll have to do a cross-link… (lol) In regards to your new place, have you seen the blog called “The Adventures of Elizabeth”? She did a wonderful bedroom, where she covered the heating fixture (i.e. your air-conditioner…) with old tin ceiling molding! Fabulous look. Here’s the link to the bedroom: http://elizabethhousestlouis.blogspot.com/2007/04/new-ta-da-feature-now-in-romantic-homes.html – I bet you could dig up some ‘French’ tin, just for the occassion… Can’t wait to see how you transform this space!!!

Well I was thinking of an old pediment secured to the ceiling with a little space between it and the a/c for the nice cool air to come out.

    Hmmm…

Could you possibly have a valance made to go over top of the windows and make it out of something with slits – then cover it with a fabric that would breathe and allow the cold air to come through?

    Otherwise,

Can you relocate it somewhere else in the apartment or is it absolutely miserable? ;)

    P.S This is a FABULOUS-O place for N.Y. standards!

  6. parisapartment replied:

yes its amazing but just having the fireplace and a washing machine are enough for me. i don’t care if i ever get furniture!

I also wanted to direct you to that room done by Elizabeth…but I see Ulla already did….I loved it so much, I featured it on my blog.

Love the height of the walls (we only have that in old houses in South Africa…like the one we bought..) ….the kitchen is fantastic…would love to see what you are going to do here….

Want more and more and more pictures…I have a kitchen floor like that that is 120 years old….they just don’t make ‘em like that anymore….definetly something fabulous has to take care of the AC….fabric ( and lots of it) or architecture…first off… I would see if it could be painted to blend in with the walls…then at least it would look uniform…

Thanks for your sweeeeeeet comments about Nic….

I’d relocate that puppy down to floor level if possible, actually. Build it a little rad cover-like thingamabobby and incorporate some window seats/ shelving into the whole shebang. Visual continuity. Voila! :) Freestanding units are the worst, aren’t they?? Totally kills the mood!

    Cool space though, darlin’!
