The movie

marie11.jpg Finally saw the movie but not what I expected.  Pics like this made me think it would tell tales of running awry at Versailles.  Gorgeous costumes and color, but I want to know more about Mme DuBarry and those before MA.  Thank you, Sophia for making this inspiring and phenomenally gorgeous slice of life. I know many of us are happy just to have the pictures and one of my friends even wants to have it running on mute when it comes out on dvd! Can you please keep making films about these times? I know it fueled my passion for it and now need more!

November 3, 2006. Marie Antoinette.

    Claudia,
I also love MA and anything to do with her. I am hoping that they will come out with a book of photos from the new movie. The costumes and trimmings were gorgeous!!!
Did you ever see “The Affair of the Necklace” with Hillary Swank? I watched it again after seeing MA twice because I remembered that it was about Mme. DuBarry. You might enjoy it. I LOVE your new blog!

You also might enjoy “Ridicule”, another movie about Versailles during the age of Marie Antoinette. It’s a French film. I also loved “The Slipper and The Rose: The Story of Cinderella”. It’s a musical with colorful 18th Century costume. It’s a British movie filmed in Luxembourg. I saw it as a child and I’ve been hooked on that era ever since.
